For the grand opening of the new Edeka Bessen store in Feldberg (Feldberger Seenlandschaft) on 21 May 2026, the complete ReAct Now portfolio was installed. Retailer Jana Bessen relies on intelligent in-store audio, department-specific sound staging, and comprehensive connectivity between the checkout area management system, reverse vending machines, handheld scanners, and smartphones – for more efficient workflows, less pressure on staff, and a modern shopping experience across approximately 1,800 square metres of retail space.
With the opening of her store at Prenzlauer Straße 8 in Feldberg, retailer Jana Bessen is taking a decisive step towards the future of brick-and-mortar food retail. The new build replaces the previous location that she has operated since 2007 – and offers not only significantly more space across approximately 1,800 square metres of retail floor, but also a fundamentally modernised communication and service concept. From day one, Edeka Bessen has placed its trust in the complete product portfolio of ReAct Now.
At the heart of the sound concept is the Instore Radio, which fills the entire general sales floor with a cohesive audio atmosphere, creating a pleasant shopping environment. In addition, two departments are given their own distinct sound worlds: the fruit & vegetable section and the wine department each receive dedicated sound zones designed to drive sales, emotionally underscoring the product presentation and amplifying purchasing impulses. The result is a consistently harmonious store experience – from the entrance to the last shelf.
Alongside the sound concept, full connectivity between all relevant systems ensures smooth operations behind the scenes. The Checkout Area Management system manages the checkout zone efficiently, noticeably reducing waiting times for customers. Via the Call-to-Action Communication Solution, reverse vending machines, handheld scanners, and staff smartphones are connected in real time – information flows quickly, coordination becomes faster, and the team can focus on what truly matters: serving customers.
The integration of reverse vending machines into the communication network is particularly relevant in practice: faults or full containers are reported directly to the responsible staff members, eliminating the need for time-consuming manual checks. Combined with the handheld scanner integration, this creates a closed system that minimises administrative effort while simultaneously increasing responsiveness on the shop floor.
The interplay of all ReAct Now components makes the new Edeka Bessen in Feldberg a benchmark for what modern in-store communication can look like: emotionally engaging for customers, relieving for the team – and thoughtfully designed down to the last detail.
