On January 15, 2026, retailer Stephan Schlüter and his partner Dorothee Stöterau opened the new EDEKA Schlüter at Hohner Straße 48 in Fockbek. Across approximately 2,500 square meters of retail floor space, the ReAct Now Call-to-Action Communication Solution, Instore Radio, Checkout Area Management, and full integration of the deposit return machines ensure smooth operations, fast responses, and tangible added value for both customers and staff.
With the new build in Fockbek, EDEKA Schlüter has created a store with a clear ambition: modern, fresh, and close to the needs of people in the Rendsburg area. More than 30,000 products across 2,500 square meters, a strong fresh food profile with service counters for meat, sausage, and cheese, a spacious organic section, and partnerships with over 50 regional suppliers – the store sets benchmarks. For Stephan Schlüter and Dorothee Stöterau, it went without saying that internal communication and floor operations should be state of the art from the very beginning.
The backbone of store communication is the ReAct Now Call-to-Action Communication Solution. Role-based and in real time, it connects employees via radio, tablets, and smartphones – across the entire store. Whether at the service counter, in the warehouse, or at the checkout: coordination happens directly, without detours and without delay. With a sales floor of this size and 65 employees, that's not a convenience – it's a daily necessity.
At the checkout zone, the ReAct Now Checkout Area Management complements the seven regular checkout lanes and eight self-checkout stations. It intelligently manages lane openings and provides customers with real-time guidance – spreading peak traffic more evenly, noticeably reducing wait times, and taking targeted pressure off the team. In a high-footfall store, this pays off immediately.
The deposit return machines are also fully integrated: the connection via ReAct Now means that status notifications from the machines appear directly in the communication system – service staff can respond immediately, before customers even need to wait. Combined with the store's innovative deposit return concept, which includes an underground deposit tunnel, this creates a seamless process from machine input to further processing.
The ReAct Now Instore Radio rounds out the overall concept, creating the acoustic atmosphere that fits the EDEKA Schlüter shopping experience – warm, welcoming, and tailored to the preferences of the local customers. Together, the interplay of all four solutions creates a store environment where communication, service, and shopping experience mesh seamlessly – exactly as Stephan Schlüter and Dorothee Stöterau envisioned for their new build.
