Connected right down to the scanner: EDEKA Jessen integrates mobile computers into ReAct Now store communication

In early 2026, EDEKA Jessen expanded its existing ReAct Now store communication at its Hamburg locations with a mobile computer integration. Handheld computers are now directly embedded in the communication processes on the floor – with a noticeable impact on efficiency and response speed in day-to-day store operations.

Fast responses on the floor are no longer a nice-to-have in modern food retail – they are essential for smooth operations and high customer satisfaction. EDEKA Jessen has taken this step decisively: in early 2026, the already established ReAct Now systems at all Hamburg locations were expanded with a mobile computer integration.

Mobile computers – also known as handheld scanners – have been used in retail for years for inventory management, goods receipt, and price labeling – but often as an isolated standalone solution. Integration into the ReAct Now Call-to-Action Communication Solution changes this fundamentally: employees working the floor with a mobile computer are now fully included in role-based real-time communication. Notifications, tasks, and status updates reach them directly on the device – without detours, without loss of information.

The added value is especially visible in day-to-day operations: when restocking is needed at one of the Jessen locations, a consultation request comes in, or a process needs to be prioritized, all signals now run through a unified communication infrastructure. The mobile computer integration thus closes one of the last gaps in the digital networking of the floor – and makes the interplay of logistics, service, and customer communication significantly more powerful.

For EDEKA Jessen, the mobile computer integration is another building block in the ongoing development of its ReAct Now infrastructure. The integration shows how existing hardware can contribute significantly more to store organization through intelligent networking – without new devices, but with real impact.
